Background
The UN-REDD Joint Programme is a collaborative global programme between UNDP, UNEP and FAO, aimed at coordinating national and international efforts in the creation of a post Kyoto agreement on REDD+. The Programme was officially launched by the Norwegian Prime Minister and UN Secretary General in September 2008, and Indonesia was selected as one of the nine pilot countries.

The Ministry of Forestry Indonesia, together with FAO, UNEP and UNDP has successfully developed the UN-REDD National Joint Programme (NJP) for Indonesia. The NJP was signed by the Indonesian Government and the UN agencies in November 2009.

The Objective of the UN-REDD NJP is to assist the Government of Indonesia in establishing and a fair, equitable and transparent REDD+ architecture as well as in “attaining REDD-Readiness”. In order to secure this Objective, three Outcomes will be pursued:

  • Outcome 1: Strengthened multi-stakeholder participation and consensus at national level.
  • Outcome 2: Successful demonstration of establishing a REL, MRV and fair payment systems based on the national REDD architecture.
  • Outcome 3: Capacity established to implement REDD at decentralized levels.

To help achieve these outcomes, the UN-REDD Programme will place a Website and Database Officer in the UN-REDD Indonesia Office. The Website and Database Officer will be part of a team of UN-REDD Indonesia that also includes a National Project Manager, a Chief Technical Advisor and three Team leaders, as well as administrative and financial support. He/she will report to the National Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance and supervision of the Chief Technical Advisor and the National Programme Manager, the Website and Database Officer will conduct technical activities on database and website development as well as communication related tasks.

This tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Create and develop database and related products and services;
  • Create/develop and maintain UN-REDD and REDD+ websites and intranet;
  • Support training and skills development on database management;
  • Any other duties as directed by UN-REDD Indonesia management.

Key Results Expected

  • Quarterly and Annual workplans developed
  • Planned activities effectively and efficiently implemented
  • Campaign communication materials and products, electronic or print-based, to communicate UN-REDD Indonesia, REDD+, and climate change messages
  • Regular updated/enhanced the UN-REDD websites, intranet and the REDD+ website
  • High quality on delivered results

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • University degree in Management Information System, Computer Science, Communications, or related discipline

Experience:

  • More than 5 years experience developing and maintaining databases and MIS’s;
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of database development particularly MS Access and Sequel Server;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office products, notably MS Access, MS Power Point, MS Excel;
  • Experience of data entry work;
  • Ability to work proactively in a dynamic and busy work environment;
  • Proven track record in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web based management systems.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English language, spoken and written.
  • Indonesian citizenship
