Research Analyst

Purpose of the Assignment
The Research Analyst will support the work of a task team leader in the education team, through day to day support to research and analytical activities.

Duties and accountabilities

  • Independently researches and analyzes a wide variety of education sector performance, sector cost and financing, and other sector topics and issues for lending, research, and/or policy related tasks.
  • Prepares sections of education sector analyses, strategy or research reports involving the analysis, evaluation and, preparation of data, as well as the formulation of conclusions and recommendations.
  • Programs and modifies sector projection and financing models using existing high-complexity software packages and develops software needed to implement and upgrade models, using a variety of complex languages.
  • Writes routine data reports independently and participates in drafting education sector technical working papers for wider circulation.
  • Participates in missions to collect-analyze data as well as exchange information with Government/Private Sector officials.
  • Works independently, seeking guidance and instruction on new, unusual or complex assignments on education sector issues
  • Serve as the focal person for education data center in Jakarta office, responsible for regularly maintaining and updating all education related data.

Selection criteria

  • Minimum Education: MA/MS (Economics/Finance) OR Equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum Years of Relevant Experience: 2 years
  • Sound understanding of and specialized experience in applying computer languages and software packages used for economic/financial research and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to apply software programs for economic analysis and database management, highly proficient in using Stata for large survey data sets including panel data linking and manipulation
  • Basic knowledge of econometric and statistical analysis techniques and of related principles underlying Bank economic work.
  • Basic ability to interpret and present statistical information.
  • Familiarity with key education sector issues and poverty analysis
  • Good knowledge of the principal sources and retrieval systems of economic and social development data.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly on a range of assignments, and adjust to and prioritize a variety of complex evolving tasks.
  • Ability to effectively provide professional support to senior staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective relations within and outside the Bank, and to promote collaboration within the team to meet unit objectives
  • Proficient in both English and Bahasa Indonesia
